Divisions & Awards
Review the available registration divisions and the awards presented in each event before selecting your category.
Race Divisions
Choose the division that best applies to you during registration.
Choose how you want to compete.
Specialty divisions are optional. Qualifying for Clydesdale & Athena or
Rookie / First-Timer does not require you to select that division—you may
still choose Open. These options group athletes by experience or shared
characteristics, while most individual athletes register in Open.

Open
The standard division for individual participants. Open athletes are
automatically eligible for applicable Overall, Masters, Grand Masters,
and Age Group awards.

Rookie / First-Timer
An optional division for athletes completing their first triathlon.
First-time athletes may instead register in Open.

Clydesdale & Athena
An optional division for male athletes weighing 220 pounds or more and
female athletes weighing 165 pounds or more. Qualifying athletes may
instead register in Open.

Guardians
For active-duty and retired military personnel, police officers,
firefighters, EMS professionals, and their spouses.

For two- or three-person teams competing in men’s, women’s, or

Race Awards
Awards are presented to the top qualifying finishers in each category. Male and female awards are presented separately unless otherwise noted.
Open Division Awards:
Triathlon Overall, Masters, Grand Masters, and Age Group awards are
determined from athletes registered in Open. No separate registration
is required for these award categories.
